BAGUIO National School of Arts and Trade (BNSAT) of Davao City and Maniki Central Elementary School (MCES) of Kapalong, Davao del Norte, kicked off their 16th Davao Baseball Cup campaigns with dominant victories at the Lt. Cipriano Villafuerte Sr. Elementary School (LCVSES) baseball tournament in Calinan on Friday, February 21, 2025.
BNSAT, last year’s high school division runner-up, cruised past Emilio Ramos National High School of Davao City with an 11-0 shutout to stay on track for the title.
Visiting Andili National High School (ANHS) of Mawab, Davao de Oro, also impressed with a commanding 12-0 win over Philippine Nikkei Jin Kai International School (PNJKIS).
In the elementary division, MCES blanked Calinan Central Elementary School (CCES) of Davao City, 8-0. At the same time, Communal Elementary edged out San Miguel Integrated School of Toril, Davao City, in a close 9-8 battle.
As of press time, more games were ongoing in the tournament, which is presented by the Tokyo Kichijoji Lions Club and organized by the Department of Education (DepEd)-Davao Region, Philippine Nikkei Jin Kai, PNJKIS, and Mindanao Kokusai Daigaku.
The annual baseball meet, which has drawn a record 23 teams from across the Davao Region and Mindanao, offers cash prizes, trophies, and baseball equipment to the top three teams.
