HOTELS and other accommodations are already fully booked for the Kadayawan Festival, a tourism official said.
"The hotel and accommodation sector here in the city is very much prepared because Kadayawan is a big festival that everyone is waiting for," Genrose Tecson, City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO) head, said in an interview on Thursday, August 2, 2015 at Davao City Tourism Office, Davao City.
Some 200,000 tourists and guests are expected for the upcoming Kadayawan festival this August.
Tecson added the tourism industry is already doing their best in making sure that every guest will be accommodated during the festival.
In 2017, tourist arrivals in the city breached the two million mark.
A total of 2,009,879 tourists arrived in the city between January to December last year. Of this number domestic tourist arrivals increased 1,835,798 from 1,716,224 in the same period in 2016.
In August 2017, the biggest increase of tourist arrival was recorded due to Kadayawan festival. A total of 185,660 tourists were recorded from 171,851 in the same period in 2016.
Tecson added the 185,000 tourists consist for the hotel occupancy rate only.
"Pretty much, everything is set. One thing beautiful about it is that our accommodation sector came up with a drink that was concocted by a renowned hotel here in the city," Tecson said.
Tecson added the drink is called the "Kadayawan Cooler" which will be served as welcome drinks for guests and tourists who will be staying in hotels in the city.
"The recipe is being shared to all hotels in Davao, so that guests and tourists can have a taste of the Kadayawan Cooler," Tecson said.
With the long weekend already approved, Tecson encouraged Dabawenyos to stay in the city and enjoy Kadayawan.
"More than the expected count of almost 200,000 tourists, we hope Dabawenyos go out and celebrate," Tecson said.
