DELEGATES from Malaysian cooperatives will be attending this year's 14th National Cooperative Summit on October 3 to 5 at SMX Convention Center, SM Lanang, Davao City.
Philippine Cooperative Center (PCCC) head of operations Elsie Remonte said the Malaysian cooperative Angkatan Kerjasama Kebangsaan Malaysia Berhad (Angkasa) will be giving a solidarity message, encouraging the Philippine cooperatives to form a stronger bond in the country.
"This is an exposure trip for the international body. They will be hearing the latest update about the Philippine cooperative, learning, and also building their network," Remonte said during the Kapehan sa Dabaw on Monday, October 1, 2018 at SM City Davao.
Remonte added that there would be 33 delegates from Angkasa.
"Hopefully, they could partner with some of the cooperatives here in the Philippines," Remonte said.
Remonte added that the international participation in the upcoming cooperative convention could spark discussion on cooperative financing.
The 14th National Cooperative Summit, which takes place once every two years, will discuss growth prospects and programs that the cooperative sector offers in relation to the socio-economic shifts taking place in the country, the regional implications of these shifts and how these would impact on the global cooperative situation.
"This will definitely serve like a family reunion of cooperatives in the country, meeting the international potential partners as well," Remonte added.
