LAAK, DAVAO DE ORO — A vibrant show of unity and hope unfolded in Barangay Datu Davao on Friday as Team Kalinaw ug Panaghiusa, together with leaders under the #GovernmentWorks initiative, visited the community to promote peace, solidarity, and a brighter future for all sectors, especially the Lumad people.
Leading the event were the province’s 2nd District congressional candidate Noe "Butchoy" Taojo, gubernatorial bet and current 2nd District Congressman Ruwel Peter Gonzaga, vice gubernatorial candidate and the province’s governor, Dorothy "Dotdot" Gonzaga, and Vice Governor Tyron Uy.
The group received a warm and enthusiastic welcome from the Lumad communities, who gathered to listen to the leaders’ message of inclusivity and sincere service.
In his address, Taojo emphasized Team Kalinaw's commitment to providing non-discriminatory public service that prioritizes the needs of every sector, particularly indigenous groups that have long played a crucial role in the cultural identity and development of Davao de Oro.
“Ang tinud-anay nga serbisyo dili lamang para sa pipila, kundili para sa tanan. Ang atong mga Lumad kabahin gayud sa atong kasaysayan ug sa paglambo sa atong probinsya (True service is not only for the few but for all. Our indigenous peoples are part of our history and in the development of our provice),” Taojo said.
The gathering also became a venue for exchanging dreams, aspirations, and plans for the district’s future. Taojo and the rest of Team Kalinaw stressed that genuine progress can only be achieved through the unity of leadership and community — paving the way toward a safer, stronger, and more peaceful District 2.
“Daghang salamat, Datu Davao, sa inyong mainiton nga pagdawat ug pagsalig. Ang inyong suporta maoy among kusog sa padayon nga pagserbisyo Para sa Tao, Para sa Tanan (Thank you very much, Datu Davao for your warm welcome and trust. Your support is our strength to continue to service For the People, For All!)” Taojo added.
The activity is part of the ongoing "Byaheng Kalinaw" campaign that aims to foster closer ties between leaders and grassroots communities across Davao de Oro. PR
