SEVERAL local government units (LGUs) across the Davao Region have officially proclaimed their winning candidates following the successful completion of transmission of election results for the May 12, 2025 National and Local Elections, confirming a new wave of leadership across the provinces.
Davao Region registered a total of 3,386,929 voters, with Davao City leading at 1,007,794 voters. Other provinces include Davao del Norte (721,737), Davao de Oro (551,671), Davao del Sur (464,812), Davao Oriental (435,188), and Davao Occidental (205,737).
Davao de Oro
In Compostela, Mayor Levi Ebdao secured his second term, with Vice Mayor Ricky Hechanova and eight Sangguniang Bayan members also proclaimed.
In Nabunturan, incumbent Mayor Myrocel Clarin Balili was re-elected, alongside Vice Mayor Cyrian Reterba and eight councilors.
In Laak, a leadership transition occurred within the same family: Vice Mayor Honeyboy Libuangan was elected mayor, replacing his father, Antonio Libuangan, who won as vice mayor. The full slate of councilors was also declared.
In Mabini, Mayor Emerson Luego was proclaimed for a second term, with Vice Mayor Halima Muñoz and eight councilors completing the town’s winning lineup.
In Monkayo, Councilor Manuel Zamora Jr. was elected mayor, joined by Vice Mayor Manuel Brillantes Jr. and eight councilors.
Mayor-elect Zamora expressed heartfelt gratitude to his family, supporters, and the Comelec for ensuring a peaceful election. He emphasized the commitment to progress and development in Monkayo.
Davao del Sur
In Bansalan, Edwin G. Reyes was proclaimed mayor, and lawyer Kirby Villaraiz will serve as vice mayor. Eight municipal councilors were also declared winners by the Municipal Board of Canvassers.
Meanwhile, the Provincial Board of Canvassers proclaimed Yvonne Cagas the newly elected governor, Marc Cagas as vice governor, and John Tracy Cagas as congressional representative. Ten board members were also officially proclaimed for Districts I and II.
Davao Oriental
In Caraga, Mayor Ronnie Osnan was re-elected for a second term, defeating his 2022 rival. Vice Mayor Rican Calig-onan and eight councilors were also proclaimed.
In Mati City, former congressman Mayo Almario was proclaimed the new mayor, replacing current Mayor Michelle Rabat. Vice Mayor Enzo Rabat was re-elected, along with a roster of newly proclaimed city councilors.
In Lupon, Mayor Sonny Alonzo and Vice Mayor Christian Chrence Go were proclaimed alongside eight members of the Sangguniang Bayan.
Davao del Norte
The Panabo City will still be headed by the incumbent mayor, Jose E. Relampagos, after he was proclaimed for his final term, with Engr. Franklin Gentiles declared the new vice mayor. The City Council now consists of a balanced mix from Partido Federal ng Pilipinas and Lakas teams, with ten councilors proclaimed.
In Carmen, Mayor Leonidas Bahague and Vice Mayor Marchell Perandos were re-elected. They are also joined by eight municipal councilors serving for three years.
Davao Occidental
In Saranggani, Mayor Adelan B. De Arce and Vice Mayor Marciano C. Lagudas were officially proclaimed.
Davao City
In a significant development, former President Rodrigo Duterte, despite being detained at the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, won the mayoral race in Davao City by a landslide, receiving over 660,000 votes, eight times more than his nearest opponent.
His son, Sebastian Duterte, was elected vice mayor. The Duterte family's political dominance in the region remains strong, with other family members securing positions in Congress and local councils.
The swift proclamation of winners across various municipalities and cities marks a smooth and peaceful conclusion to the electoral process in the Davao Region, according to the Police Regional Office-Davao Region (PRO-Davao).
Local government officials, election officers, and citizens have been commended for ensuring orderly conduct and transmission during the 2025 midterm elections.
