TAGUM CITY, Davao del Norte — Jealousy is one of the motives being investigated in the fatal shooting of a 26-year-old woman, which occurred around 3 a.m. on July 16, 2025, inside her apartment at Purok 28-A, Kawayanan, Barangay Madaum.
The victim was identified as Seanne Angco Gellangarin, an online seller who was renting an apartment in the area.
According to Police Lieutenant Colonel Frederick Deles, the acting Chief of Police of Tagum Police Station, neighbors reported that they heard an argument before the shooting, which is why jealousy is now considered a possible motive.
The victim was also overheard saying, “Nganong magselos man ka nga dili man ta uyab? (Why are you jealous? We're not even in a relationship),” followed by multiple gunshots.
The victim sustained three gunshot wounds to the body, which caused her instantaneous death.
As of press time yesterday, police had yet to release further updates, as the investigation into the crime is still ongoing.
Authorities are also reviewing possible footage from closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras near the crime scene.
The victim’s family continues to call for justice.
Later in the afternoon, the suspected gunman was arrested at around 12:30 p.m. inside an inn in Barangay San Pedro, Panabo City, during a hot pursuit operation.
Police recovered a .45 caliber pistol, three sachets of suspected shabu worth P360,000, a holster, a cellphone, and other personal items.
The suspect is currently detained at the Panabo City Police Station as the investigation continues. JRN, JPC, RGL
