THE City Government of Davao, in partnership with the Department of Education-Davao City Division (DepEd-Davao City), has officially introduced the Dabawenyo DCplinado modules for Grade 6 and Grade 10 students. The launch, held on December 10, 2024, at Teodoro L. Palma Gil Elementary School, marks a significant milestone in the city’s education initiatives.

The modules comply with City Ordinance No. 0552, Series of 2024, also known as the Dabawenyo DCplinado for the Future Generation.

The ordinance, approved on July 9, 2024, was authored by Councilor Jonard Dayap, who chairs the Committee on Future Generations.

To prepare for the program's integration into the curriculum, teachers participated in a two-day seminar aimed at equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively deliver the subject.

Starting January 2025, the modules will be incorporated into existing subjects, including Values Education, Araling Panlipunan, Makabayan, and Good Manners and Right Conduct.

“The Dabawenyo DCplinado module covers topics including civic responsibility and community engagement, respect for laws and regulations, cultural sensitivity and gender equality, personal discipline, and ethical behavior, Information and Digital Ethics, Environmental Stewardship, Culture of Security, and Financial Literacy,” according to a Facebook post by the City Government on December 10, 2024.

The comprehensive approach aims to prepare students to become disciplined and responsible citizens.

The program is set to roll out for Grade 6 and Grade 10 students in Davao City beginning January 2025.

Councilor Jonard Dayap highlighted on July 16, 2024, that what makes Dabawenyo DCplinado unique is its enhanced approach, incorporating Davao City’s tagline, “Culture of Security.” He explained that the subject aims to “develop a well-rounded Dabawenyo with upright morals and good conduct.”

This initiative is a collaborative effort between Davao City Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte and the Department of Education (DepEd). RGP
