DAVAO de Oro Governor Dorothy Gonzaga personally handed-over the educational grants to the children of fallen soldiers at the Provincial Capitol in Nabunturan, Davao de Oro.
The grants are P10,000 for college students and P 5,000 for elementary and high school students. These grants were awarded to the dependents of the late Sgt. Rey Haye, Sgt. Romero Celestial, and Technical Sgt. Jhonie Judith in honor of their ultimate sacrifice for peace.
This activity was realized when the 1001st Infantry (PAG-ASA) Brigade hosted a wreath-laying ceremony and the unveiling of the PAG-ASA Heroes Memorial during its 18th Founding Anniversary last August 2024, which was attended by the widows and children of the fallen Pag-asa troopers, with Governor Gonzaga as the guest of honor.
Following this, Brig. Gen. Felix Ronnie Babac, 1001st Brigade Commander, lobbied for a scholarship program to support the education of the fallen soldiers’ children. Moreover, the request was immediately approved by Governor Gonzaga as a vital tribute to the legacy of Davao de Oro’s fallen heroes.
