NABUNTURAN, Davao de Oro — Recognizing the role of local enterprises as economic drivers, the provincial government of Davao de Oro held various business development programs in its celebration of the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise (MSME) Week dubbed as NeGOLDsyo on July 1 to 4, 2025.
As read by executive assistant Ma. Janice Boiser, Governor Raul Mabanglo lauded the MSMEs as the backbone of the province’s economy, especially in providing employment.
“As an advocate of progress and development, my administration is fully committed to supporting initiatives that promote MSMEs, recognizing their instrumental role in our economy and nation-building,” the governor said.
Provincial director Art Hermoso of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Davao de Oro affirmed the contribution of MSMEs in nation building, not only in job creation but also eventually in poverty alleviation.
“We have high hopes nga padayon inyong success kay kamo ang tunay na gintong puhunan sa Davao de Oro (We have high hopes that your success will continue, because you are the true golden asset of Davao de Oro),” Hermoso said.
The trade and industry officials also disclosed that the celebration of the province is aligned with the agenda of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. on improving the business environment, enhancing skills and innovation, and expanding market access, as illustrated in the MSME Development Plan.
For the four-day celebration, NeGOLDsyo featured a Gold Negosyo Credit Fair, an access to financing event with banks, cooperatives, and financing partners.
The fair also highlighted a learning session on e-payments, Anti-Financial Scamming Law, and the Gold Buying Program of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.
Aside from this, NeGOLDsyo also conducted a franchising seminar on July 2, and Go Lokal, Buy Lokal, and Kadiwa ng Pangulo Trade Fair on July 2 and 3 at the Provincial Capitol Lobby.
The Department of Science and Technology also joined the event by holding Big Volume and Weighing Scales Calibration Service in Compostela and Nabunturan on July 2 and 3, and Food Safety Seminars on July 3 and 4.
Digital courses were also offered to the MSMEs in partnership with the Department of Information Communication and Technology (DICT) on July 3-4.
The event closed on July 4 with a Training on Household Detergent Products in collaboration with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) and the Graduation and Awarding Ceremony of the Kapatid Mentor Me (KMME) Program. PIA DAVAO
