THE Davao City Itik Pinas Farmers Association (Dacipfa) has launched a P1.5 million egg production project to ensure a steady supply of high-quality duck products. The initiative was officially introduced on March 27, 2025, in Lower Tamugan, Marilog District, Davao City.
The project is part of the Department of Labor and Employment’s (Dole) Integrated Livelihood Program (Dilp), also known as the Kabuhayan Program, which supports vulnerable and marginalized workers across the country.
Dacipfa’s 55 members are committed to implementing sustainable and innovative farming practices to maintain a reliable supply of duck products, including eggs and meat.
“These products play a vital role in local markets and cultural traditions, particularly in the production of balut, a renowned Filipino delicacy,” DOLE stated in a Facebook post.
Under the DILP, beneficiaries receive financial assistance and training to strengthen their livelihood. The program takes a comprehensive approach to expanding community enterprises, reducing poverty, and promoting economic growth.
The funding provided is tailored to meet the specific needs of the project, ensuring a meaningful impact on the beneficiaries' economic stability.
Beyond enhancing existing community initiatives, the Kabuhayan Program also aids in restoring livelihoods affected by calamities.
In 2020 alone, it supported approximately 297,000 beneficiaries nationwide.
The Dilp aligns with Republic Act No. 11292, also known as the Magna Carta for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), which recognizes MSMEs as key drivers of inclusive economic growth. RGP
