THE Davao City Overland Transport Terminal (Dcott) is on red alert following a fatal bus shooting and alleged robbery in Carmen, Davao del Norte, on Saturday, December 28, 2024.

Dcott manager Aisa Usop assured the public that the terminal is operating normally, with Task Force Davao (TFD), police, and civilian security forces securing the station. Usop also noted a surge in passengers due to the long weekend, estimating 1,500 bus journeys and 75,000 to 80,000 passengers between Christmas and New Year's.

To ensure safety, bus companies have been warned against picking up passengers in undesignated areas, as Ordinance 0192 prohibits loading or unloading outside the terminal.

This "no pick-up" policy is a security measure in response to past bombing incidents targeting provincial buses.

In the robbery and shooting, two suspects targeted a 54-year-old businessman aboard a Davao Metro Shuttle, killing the victim before fleeing the scene. No other passengers were harmed. The investigation into the incident is ongoing. DEF
