THE Davao City Police Office (DCPO) has reiterated its apolitical and non-partisan stance following the unauthorized circulation of an internal memorandum on social media.
The memo, which gained public attention, detailed a request from the Police Regional Office - Davao Region (PRO-Davao) for the deployment of 55 DCPO personnel to assist the Presidential Security Command (PSG).
These officers were assigned to provide security during President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s visit to Davao del Norte for the Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas rally on February 15, 2025.
DCPO clarified that the deployment was a standard security measure to ensure the safety of the President, the event venue, and the public. It stressed that such operations are purely for public safety and are not politically driven.
"We remain neutral and professional in all our operations, upholding our duty to protect the citizens of Davao City, regardless of their political affiliations," a statement from DCPO read.
The office urged the public to avoid spreading misinformation and assured residents its continued commitment to integrity, professionalism, and public safety.
Marcos Jr.'s visit to Davao del Norte drew over 10,000 attendees at the rally held at Carmen Municipal Hall grounds. In his speech, he took a swipe at former President Rodrigo Duterte, warning Filipinos against a return to the nation's "dark past." He also urged voters to support Alyansa’s senatorial candidates, emphasizing the need to sustain his administration’s reforms.
