THE Department of Social Welfare and Development-Davao Region (DSWD-Davao) has provided cash grants to approximately 6,000 beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) under its new First 1,000 Days Cash Grant (F1KD) initiative.
According to Margie Cabido-Sobretodo, 4Ps Division Chief at DSWD-Davao, around 6,970 of the 262,000 4Ps beneficiaries qualified for the program, which grants P350 per month exclusively to pregnant women and children aged zero to two years old.
The F1KD program aligns with Republic Act 11148, also known as the Kalusugan at Nutrisyon ng Mag-Nanay Act, which strengthens maternal and child health and nutrition services in the critical first 1,000 days of life. This initiative also supports the Philippine Plan of Action on Nutrition (PPAN), which aims to reduce child stunting by 17.9 percent by 2028.
“This is the DSWD contribution in addressing or preventing stunting problems among our 4Ps beneficiaries,” Sobretodo said during Kapehan sa Dabaw on Monday, February 3, at SM City Davao.
Sobretodo said that the F1KD program is available to pregnant women and children aged zero to two years old who are active and registered members of the 4Ps. She added that through this initiative, 4Ps beneficiaries can enhance their awareness of health and nutrition services, focusing on the foundational development of their children.
To receive the monthly cash grant, beneficiaries must attend all prenatal check-ups and deliver at a health facility, bring their child for regular check-ups and vaccinations, provide nutritious food and proper care, and ensure their child’s attendance in an early childhood development program.
Households under 4Ps typically receive between P3,500 and P3,800 monthly, depending on their children's age and grade level. If a household includes a pregnant woman or a child aged zero to two years old, they will also receive an additional P350 monthly from the F1KD program. Qualified households must visit their nearest City or Municipal Link to submit their Beneficiary Updating System (BUS) Form 5 to enroll in the program. RGP
