THE Department of Social Welfare and Development-Davao Region (DSWD-Davao), in collaboration with the Department of Labor and Employment-Davao Region (Dole-Davao), will be offering job opportunities to the graduating families of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) under the Trabaho sa Bagong Pilipinas Job Fair.
Merlinda A. Paragamac, OIC Regional Director of DSWD-Davao, said that they are targeting 3,000 beneficiaries for the Trabaho sa Bagong Pilipinas Job Fair, which will be held on February 15, 2025, at the Tagum City Hall Atrium from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Paragamac added that the graduating families of 4Ps will have social workers on the ground who will be monitoring them. She said these social workers will assess their capacity to be employed, and if they are not yet capable, the graduating families will be enrolled in the agency’s microenterprise development program to help them become self-sufficient.
“Atoa gyung tuyo nga kaning atoang mga pamilya diri sa Pantawid mamahimo nang self-sufficient na mga families gikan sa mga bata hangtud sa family head ginahatagan nato ug intervention (Our goal is that these families here in Pantawid will become self-sufficient, from the children to the family head, and we provide them with interventions),” she said during the Kapehan sa Dabaw on Monday, February 10, 2025, at SM City Davao.
Margie Cabido-Sobretodo, 4Ps DSWD-Davao division chief, said they have verified the 3,000 beneficiaries from Tagum and Carmen, explaining that these areas were pilot locations for the Trabaho sa Bagong Pilipinas program. She also said the job fair was initiated by the Office of the President and rolled out in the National Capital Region (NCR) on January 28, then moved to the Visayas with an event in Iloilo City on February 14.
“Tan-awon pa nato ug unsa ang magiging [We will be looking into the] result for the first job fair which is scheduled for February 15, 2025,” she said.
Sobretodo added that they have accounted for 50,975 employable households and have already provided capability training, skills training, as well as educational, employment, health, medical, and livelihood assistance.
Lawyer Randolf C. Pensoy, Dole-Davao regional director, revealed that there are currently about 809 vacancies, and he hopes more vacancies will be available in the future. He said nine employers have confirmed attending the program and that they are looking for additional employers.
“The top five positions coming from the customer service representative are: cashier, bagger, clerk, encoder, financial advisers, inventory specialist, and forklift operators,” he said.
Pensoy also said that six industries will be participating, with the top industries being administrative and support activities, financial assurance activities, information and communication, construction, wholesale and retail, and hospitality. RGP
