Dr. Roland Suico, a brilliant yet humble leader, was elected president of the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCCI), earning widespread respect for his down-to-earth approach.
Committed to empowering local businesses, his leadership focuses on information exchange and capacity building. With a vision for progress, Suico aims to elevate Davao as a key economic hub, not just in Mindanao but across Southeast Asia.
Assuming office in January 2024, Suico is focused on creating a thriving business ecosystem where knowledge-sharing and professional development fuel sustainable growth.
“At the Chamber, our operations and services to members and stakeholders are anchored on four pillars: Policy Advocacy, Business Promotion, Information Exchange, and Capacity Building. My primary expertise lies in training and development, which aligns closely with the pillars of Information Exchange and Capacity Building. These areas present significant opportunities to address challenges by equipping our member companies with relevant training and programs tailored to enhance their operations,” he said in a statement.
A seasoned professional with multifaceted expertise, Suico aims to generate a ripple effect that boosts operational efficiency and strengthens business success. He plans to enhance stakeholder engagement by utilizing digital platforms to highlight the Chamber’s initiatives, advocacies, and the tangible benefits they provide member companies.
“As the new president of the Davao Chamber, I will focus on advancing Information Exchange and Capacity Building as key pillars of our mission. These efforts aim to empower member companies, particularly SMEs, by providing access to relevant and timely knowledge, skills, and strategies that can drive operational efficiency and innovation,” Suico added.
Strengthening training programs, organizing knowledge-sharing sessions, and improving communication are among his top priorities. He also emphasizes collaboration within the Chamber, believing it will maximize their collective impact on Davao’s economic growth and competitiveness.
“Adhering to these priorities can equip businesses with the tools they need to thrive in a dynamic economic landscape while strengthening the Chamber's role as a trusted partner in growth and development,” he said.
Beyond his role at the Chamber, Suico actively contributes to various sectors. He serves as Vice President for Administration at Jose Maria College Foundation, Inc., while also working as an HR Business Partner for Sensorbee AB, a Sweden-based software development firm. He owns HDS Accounting Services, which specializes in business registration, tax compliance, bookkeeping, and auditing. In addition, he teaches at the Graduate School of San Pedro College and serves as a professor at Lyceum of the Philippines – Davao.
With over 10 years of experience as an HR consultant, Suico has worked across industries including education, real estate, IT, BPO, and mining. His 20-year career in education has seen him take on leadership roles such as Professor, Program Dean, VP for Academics, and School Registrar.
His academic background includes a Doctorate in Rural Development from the Iloilo State College of Fisheries and coursework in Doctor of Management at Ateneo de Davao University. He also holds a Master’s in Business Administration, a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from the University of Mindanao, and a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education from Rizal Memorial Colleges.
As one of Davao’s most esteemed leaders, Suico envisions a business landscape driven by innovation and sustainability. His focus on training and knowledge-sharing initiatives aims to help businesses adapt to emerging trends, modernize operations, and remain competitive.
