IT HAD long been proven that a collective effort to meet a certain goal often ends on a positive note. With everyone's heart set for a common good, hopefully the Universe smiles at them and grants them what they wish for.

On Saturday, February 8, the alumni of the University of the Philippines (UP) Mindanao decided to organize a benefit concert at Suazo Bar in Suazo St., Davao City to help their fellow UP Mindanao alumni Jade Mark Salubre.

Salubre, who graduated magna cum laude from the university in 2014 under the Food Technology program, is currently suffering from an autoimmune disease called ankylosing spondylitis or juvenile arthritis. Because of this, his vision was impaired and would need to take three classes of steroids to improve the vision. However, the medicines have already affected his liver and kidneys.

His condition would need 12 shots of Adalimumab for the next six months of medication. Each shot costs P67,780 or US$1,340. As the family lacks funding for the shots, any financial assistance for his medication will be of great help.

His UP Mindanao fellow alumni will stage the benefit gig on Saturday, 8 p.m. where UP Mindanao alumni bands and performers will be present.

Watch out for the performances of RJ Manulid, Alagad, Early Morning, and Arkilados. Entrance fee to the event is only for P70 and will be open to the public.
