Mamma Mia!

I'VE been seeing my former "inaanak sa labas attachment" David Abella's post about the pizza he makes, but I thought it was in a pizza place that has been there for years now. (Inaanak sa labas is a term of endearment for my young mentees and friends, so please do not be offended. Hahahaha!)

Last week, however, I just had to ask where he makes pizza, and it turns out that it's right at the neighborhood where we hold our weekly healing and meditation, and no, it's not an old place. It's new.

The name is Mamma Mia (not Mamma Maria as I thought it was) and it's along what used to be called Texas Street now just part of Padre Gomez. It's that portion right across Humberto's Inn and also opposite the Dover Lanes complex, in a compound of al fresco eating places.

David, having grown up in Italy must know what pizza and pasta is, and so I hied on off last Thursday with Trisha and Jon. David does know his pizza. Chewy crust, yummy cheese, al dente pasta, all perfectly seasoned with spices.

They have a few bottles of wine to go with your meal. And there's a friendly but shy dog who will welcome you as you enter the property.

The cook's snooty, he will frown at you if you ask for ketchup and will give you chili flakes if you ask for hot sauce. But the food's good, it's worth a frown.

You can always pull out your customer card and demand your ketchup and hot sauce. Way to go, David!
