AUTHORITIES impounded a total 56 single motorcycles during the simultaneous operation targeting erring drivers, dubbed as "Oplan Lambat Bitag Sasakyan", which is intended to clear the city of suspected carnapped and unregistered vehicles plying the street of Davao City.
Davao City Police Office (DCPO) spokesperson Police Senior Inspector Ma. Teresita Gaspan said that the operation is in line with their campaign to combat stolen vehicles as well as to apprehend violators of the traffic code.
The operation, conducted by members of DCPO, Task Force Davao, Land Transportation Office, Land Transportation Franchising Regulatory Board, Davao City Transport and Traffic Management Office, and Regional Mobile Force Battalion, started around 3 p.m. last May 11.
The series of operations was conducted in areas of Police Stations 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 and 10.
Aside from the impounded vehicles, it also resulted to the confiscation of 266 drivers' licenses and issuance of 137 citation tickets for various serious traffic violations.
The impounded vehicles were endorsed to Traffic Group for proper disposition.
