THE National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC) in Davao Region has noted 762 labor cases filed in the first quarter this year.
Data obtained from the NLRC-Davao showed that of the 762 labor cases, there were 330 new cases filed at the office from January to March this year, while the 432 are the remaining cases in 2017.
As of March this year, there were already 290 cases disposed, of which 141 cases were settled and 91 were decided; while other 58 are still under investigation.
The NLRC-Davao also served 2,323 labor clients for the past three months, 39 of them were overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), 783 were from registered unions and 1,501 were from Single-Entry Approach (Sena).
NLRC information officer Gloria Baui earlier said that the usual complaints among these cases are illegal termination coupled with underpayment salaries, non-payment in other labor standard services, and contract issues.
It was also reported that 67 percent labor cases won over the management and 33 percent on the management side won over the complainants.
The main mandate of the NLRC is to adjudicate labor and management disputes involving both the local and overseas workers through compulsory arbitration and alternative modes of dispute resolution.
