DAVAO City Vice Mayor Bernard Al-ag said they are set to open next week an all-gender comfort room (CR) within the Sangguniang Panlungsod (city council) Building.
"Next week we will launch our new signage at the old CR for persons with disabilities, it will be used for all-gender," he said.
Al-ag said that this is to prevent conflict between the comfort room users, especially those who are members of the Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community.
He said they made such a move as months ago after a verbal altercation ensued between an LGBT and a female when the former used the ladies' comfort room.
Al-ag said the lady was scared.
He said the all-gender CR will also be used by PWDs.
Al-ag said he will make the installation of the all-gender CR as a permanent policy.
They also intend separate the CR for LGBT and PWD in the future.
"As of the moment this is just the immediate action we can do since (having an all-gender CR) is not included in the design of the building.
