THE crime volume in Davao region went down by 29.4 percent to 12,622 incidents from January to November this year.
The decrease, compared to 17,890 incidents in the same period in 2017, was attributed to the stringent law enforcement operations and security measures by the region's police authorities.

Davao (PRO-11), bared that the implementation of Oplan Dabaw Kalinaw in Davao region has contributed in the decrease of crime volume in the region as well as the active support of the public by reporting crimes in their communities.
The highest number of crime incidents reported in the first 11 months of 2018 was from the Davao City Police Office at 4,607; followed by 2,769 for Davao del Sur Police Provincial Office; 3,299 for Davao del Norte Police Provincial Office; 706 for Compostela Valley Police Provincial Office; 1,005 for Davao Oriental Police Provincial Office; and 236 for Davao Occidental Police Provincial Office.
In terms of index crimes, the police noted a total of 1,861 crimes against persons this year compared to 2,467 last year while crimes against properties were down to 1,643 from 2,209.
For non-index crimes or enforcement of special laws, crimed incidents dropped to 5,250 from 7,590 in 2017.
Police reported a crime clearance efficiency rate of 82.69 percent compared to 64.20 percent last year while crime solution efficiency was at 74.29 percent from 72.19 percent.
In 2019, Baria said that PRO 11 director Police Chief Superintendent Marcelo Morales directed the police in the region to increase their operations against illegal drugs as well as illegal gambling and strengthen the Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) to immediately solve cases.
