LIGA ng mga Barangay (LNB) Davao Chapter president Edgar Ibuyan Sr. urged Dabawenyos to get to know their barangay and purok leaders, following the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in Davao City.
Ibuyan, in a radio interview on Tuesday morning, April 14, admitted that not everyone knows their respective purok leaders.
The barangay league leader even agreed to a circular post stating, "Kung dili tungod sa Covid-19 (coronavirus disease), di mo makaila sa inyong purok leader (If the Covid-19 pandemic did not happen, you won't know who your purok leader is)."
Ibuyan said most barangays are struggling in their census, which was the basis for the distribution of the ration goods of the city government.
He, however, said that not everyone is covered since not all are Davao City residents. These include apartment and boarding house renters.
Meanwhile, he encouraged those residents and transient residents to present themselves to the barangay and get a Barangay Certification.
"Basta mangayo ka og certification nga taga asa ka. Kinahanglan magpa-ila ka sa barangay, mangayo og certification. Aron inig abot sa panahon, dali ra nato malocate (You must get a residential certificate. You should show up to the barangay and ask for a certification so that when an emergency situation rises, you would be easily traced)," Ibuyan said.
He emphasized that you do not have to be a registered voter to get a residential certificate.
He also said this would also help barangays' efforts in contact tracing. He said the barangays are coordinating with the Department of Health in contact tracing.
Ibuyan said among the prevalent complaints raised were residents who have not yet received their rationed goods.
He also said there are those who complained about unequal distribution of rationed goods.
Ibuyan said they already coordinated with the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) and other concerned local offices to find and solve the problem.
Almost two weeks since the ECQ was implemented, he said most barangays had noted few apprehensions in the implementation of the curfew and liquor ban.
While he said he cannot assess whether this would lead to the lifting of the ECQ, which is set to end on April 19, he still encouraged everyone to follow the guidelines of the government, and the barangay officials who implement it.
