DAVAO City Councilor Bernie Al-ag resigns as chairperson on the committee on trade, commerce, and industry; and the committee on labor and employment opportunities during the regular Session at the Sanguniang Panlungsod on Tuesday morning, August 8.

Al-ag addressed a letter to Vice Mayor Melchor Quitain, explaining that his decision to step down from these chairmanships was motivated by personal reasons. He assured that his office would facilitate the transition of responsibilities to the incoming chairpersons.

"I am glad to have served the mentioned committees even for a short yet meaningful time," Al-ag wrote in his letter.

Following Al-ag's resignation, Councilor Myrna Dalodo-Ortiz was elected as the committee's new chairperson on trade, commerce, and industry. At the same time, Councilor Bonz Militar assumed membership in the same committee.

Councilor Bai Hundra Cassandra Dominique Advincula assumed the role of chairperson for the committee on labor and employment opportunities.

On the same day, Councilors Ortiz, Militar, and Advincula took their oath of office, administered by Vice Mayor Quitain. The prompt oath-taking was meant to ensure their immediate effectiveness in their new roles.

Quitain expressed that the councilors took their oath immediately so they could function straight away.

Al-ag had secured the highest number of votes during the 2016 elections, earning him the title of vice mayor. (RGP)
