AS THE city government of Davao celebrates the 118th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary this month, 78 retired city government employees will be recognized and honored on September 24, 2018.

The recognition is a "celebration for the achievements and contributions of the men and women in government who uphold the country's societal goals and over-all vision".

Davao City Human Resource and Management Office (HRMO) head Erwin Alparaque on Tuesday, September 4, bared during the flag ceremony that the Civil Service Commission (CSC) and all public servants are encouraged to join and support various activities.

The activity started with thanksgiving mass celebration at the San Pedro Cathedral Tuesday.

The Regional Awards Rites is slated on September 11, bloodletting activity on September 23, and the R.A.C.E. to Serve Fun Run on September 30.

The theme for this year's celebration will be "Lingkod Bayani: Maka-Diyos, Makatao, Makabayan".

The celebration is an annual event that commemorates the enactment of Public Law No. 5, "An Act for the Establishment and Maintenance of an Efficient and Honest Civil Service in the Philippine Islands" on September 19, 1900.
