Davao mayor to public: Vote on Monday

CONSIDERING the low turnout of votes from the last barangay elections, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio encouraged a community to cast their votes on Monday for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections.

The mayor, during the launch of Peace 911 at Paquibato Central Elementary School, announced the need to participate in the elections.

"We want to provide genuine service; thus, we encourage that you vote on Monday. Use your right and use it well, vote wisely," she said, adding that the government has made it a non-working holiday so everyone can participate.

Duterte-Carpio also said that she allows the candidates to use photos of them with her but warned that their fellow candidates might file complaints as it is a non-partisan election.

Candidates can file charges before Commission on Elections (Comelec) for any complaint during the campaign period and the election day as well.

"I do not stop you from using those photos for your campaign but I advise that you do not," she said.

In her previous interviews, she added that she advocates for clean and honest elections. (KVC)
