THE Department of Social Welfare and Development in Davao Region (DSWD 11) is validating the list of residents classified as poor to check whether they can avail of the unconditional cash transfer fund intended for those who do not qualify for the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).
DSWD assistant regional director for operations Rebecca Santamaria, in an interview last week, said they are validating their list of 133,719 residents.
"We are validating those who can avail (of) the unconditional cash transfer from the proceeds of the Train (Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion) law. In region 11, we classified 133,719 poor residents who can qualify for one pay-out worth P2,400 yearly," she said.
She said the validators will double check the enumerators.
"So we will conduct house-to-house visits to check if they are indeed poor, and hopefully by the end of May, the residents under the category will be given unconditional cash transfer," she said.
The unconditional cash transfer program is different from the 4Ps, which requires the beneficiary to abide by the conditions of the program such as regular check up and sending their children to school.
"This program has no conditions," she said.
"The government already gave the funding to conduct a survey to find out who are indeed poor," Santamaria said.
