A FORMER barangay captain in Davao del Sur was arrested by authorities for illegal drugs during the implementation of a search warrant in his residence on Wednesday, August 1, 2018.
Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Davao information officer Noli Nephi Dimaandal said that the joint elements from Davao del Sur Provincial Office of PDEA-Davao with Regional Drug Enforcement Unit, 1104th Regional Maneuver Force Battalion, and Bansalan Municipal Police Station implemented search warrant against Allan Utida last August 1, at at 6:45 a.m., at Barangay Mabunga, Bansalan, Davao del Sur.
Utida, 57, farmer, was a former barangay captain. He was arrested after law enforcers found three big sachets and four small sachets of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as "shabu," weighing more or less 20 grams with a street value of more or less P300,000.
Two pieces of improvised disposable lighters were recovered during the implementation of search warrant.
Dimaandal said Utida is one of the notorious and elusive drug perpetrators operating in Davao del Sur and is now detained at the PDEA detention facility.
The seized suspected illegal drugs were submitted to Laboratory Service of this office for laboratory examination.
Meanwhile, the former barangay official will be facing charges for violation of Section 11, Section 12 and Section 15, Article II of Republic Act 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. The case is now being prepared against him.
