THE 12-year-old Grade 7 student of Davao City High School is now in stable condition after she allegedly jumped off at Victoria Plaza on Sunday afternoon, February 24.
Based on the police report provided by Davao City Police Office (DCPO) director Police Senior Superintendent Alexander Tagum, around 4:30 p.m. on February 23, the Sta. Ana police station received report from beat patrol of Victoria Plaza that Lyn (name witheld) jumped from the second floor of the mall near a fast food restaurant. Police personnel were dispatched to conduct ocular investigation.
Based on the witness account of Drenzel Marimbel, 24, single, resident of Buhangin, Davao City, along with his girlfriend, Patricia Mae Otida, 23, resident of New Loon, Mintal, Davao City, they were at the second floor before the incident happened.
They saw the girl hanging on the railings of the barriers. The witnesses sought assistance from the mall's security guard, who was stationed at the Department Store, to restrain her because it's risky. But it was already too late as the girl already fell on the ground before they could help.
The Tourist Police assigned at the mall immediately called for Central 911. An ambulance arrived and provided first aid to the girl.
She was rushed to the Southern Philippines Medical Center for medical intervention. She is now stable and under observation by attending physician.
During the investigation, the mother of Lyn disclosed that her daughter did not mention to her any problem that she may be facing. She also heard after the incident that allegedly her daughter did not go to school anymore but she needed to verify this claim.
