AUTHORITIES are looking into whether there is foul play involved in the alleged suicide of a student Thursday, August 1, after an official of the Scene of the Crime Operatives (Soco) said they found trauma in her skull.
Based on police report, the victim was identified as alias Chelle, 20, an accounting graduate and resident of Barangay 76-A, Davao City.
The incident happened around 4:10 p.m. of August 1.
Based on initial investigation, Chelle's mother said her child may have been driven to commit suicide because of her problem.
The victim allegedly used an iron cord, which she looped on her neck, causing her death.
In a separate interview with Regional Crime Laboratory Office (RCLO)-Davao medico-legal officer Police Chief Inspector Dr. Nolan Genova on Friday, August 2, he dismissed the possibility of rape contrary to reports circulating online.
Genova said based on their observation, there was no laceration or sign of penetration on Chelle's private part.
"Possible may attempt na rape, pero basin nanlaban siya mao nga gipatay na lang siya (There is a possibility of a rape attempt but she fought, that's why she was killed)," he said.
Asked if it was suicide, Genova said it would be impossible considering that they found trauma in her skull, which could mean that somebody might have hit her.
"Imposible siya na suicide, kay sa iyaha daghan siya og bun-og sa ulo ug arm niya. May blood coma siya sa ulo na posibleng gihampas, giparok og hard object (Suicide is impossible since she has a lot of bruises in her arm and there's blood coma in her head, which indicates that she was perhaps hit by a hard object)," Genova said.
