THE Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB)-Davao Region advised all drivers of public utility vehicles (PUVs) to drive safely especially during rush hours.
"We are reminding our PUV drivers to drive slowly, bawal ang over-speeding, overloading at reckless driving," LTFRB- Davao Region director lawyer Cattleya Acaylar said.
Acaylar added that drivers must be in sound condition to drive and have enough sleep. They should also check their vehicle's brakes, lights, oil, water, battery, air gas, engine, and tire (blowbaget) regularly before each trip.
She also said that they have been reminding the jeepney operators as well to ensure that their vehicles are properly maintained in accordance with the safety standard set by the board.
Based on the data of LTFRB- Davao Region, road crash incidents increased by 38 percent in 2018 with 91 incidents compared in 2017 which only have 66 incidents.
However, the number of fatalities in road crash incidents decreased from 12 in 2017 to only nine cases in 2018.
"They should bear in mind that public safety is a top priority," she said. (RJC)
