RESIDENTS of Kitaotao, Bukidnon were in fear on Wednesday, October 3, after a Pangayaw or a tribal war took place in the area.
Lieutenant Colonel Oscar Partuza, Battalion Commander of the 3rd Infantry Battalion (IB) confirmed the incident with VoxPop Davao.
He said that based on the information they received from an informant outside Buda (Bukidnon-Davao), Pangayaw happened in the area of Bukidnon but it is no longer part of their jurisdiction. However, he said they are coordinating with the 88th IB.
Pangayaw is a practice of the tribes in dealing conflict with their fellow tribal members. It aims to exact justice for the wrongdoings in the community.
Several netizen have expressed their thoughts on the incidents which they referred as "umerciful killing". In a video uploaded on Facebook by Gerex Gemao Cabajes, it showed a group of Lumad carrying bolo while walking around the area. The post gained various comments condemning the incident.
VoxPop Davao tried to reach the authorities however, as of Wednesday, no data has been provided yet.
