DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) director Senior Superintendet Alexander Tagum warned lawbreakers that Davao City is not a safe place for them should they continue their illegal activities.
Tagum issued such statement after the implementation of the Oplan Rat (Robbery, Akyat-bahay and Theft) Operation.
Oplan Rat was launched last Monday following the reported series of robbery incidents in Davao City. As of June 11 to 17, 11 suspects were arrested for robbery and theft.
Of the 11 recorded incidents, one was robbery in an inhabited house, one robbery with violence, two shoplifting and plain theft, two qualified thefts, two shopliftings and three thefts.
Two others believed to be drug pushers-cum-robbery suspects were also killed last week in a shootout with policemen - one in Agdao District and another in Calinan District, Davao City.
"Davao City Police Office evolved in the current trend. We understand the common reasons of the robberies, but we cannot tolerate their illegal acts," Tagum said.
He also said he instructed all his personnel to protect themselves when their lives are put in danger. He added that he would rather help his men face possible complaints than giving mortuary assistance to their families. (ICT)
