THE City Environment and Natural Resources Office (Cenro) strictly prohibits sweepers and garbage collectors from soliciting gifts whether in cash or in kind, this Christmas season.
In memorandum No. 2018-001328 released last December 13, 2018 from the office of Cenro head Marivic Reyes, the office urged the public to report violators to the police for immediate action.
It specifically mentioned the help of establishment owners and subdivision homeowners.
"Naa man gud panghitabo na ginagamit among office. Ginalikayan namo kay kani among mga tao, mga oriented na (There were instances that our office was used. We are avoiding that because we know that our personnel here are oriented workers)," Cenro garbage collection in-charge John Besa said in a phone interview Friday, December 21.
He also said they received reports on some individuals who are using the office for personal interest even if they are not even Cenro employees.
"Kung dili sila masakpan, ang among opisina ang luoy. Pero kung ma-report o ma-piktyuran ang among personnel, ma-terminate gyud siya (If these violators will not be caught, our office will be blamed. But if it will be reported or a picture was taken as proof that it was a violation committed by our personnel, he or she will be terminated)," Besa said.
"Unta dili mutuo ang mga tao kung naay muabot na mga solicitations nga ginadala ang Cenro (We hope that the public will not believe whenever they receive solicitations bearing the name of our office)," he added.
He added that the memorandum will be an annual policy to avoid such incidents.
