Tight security in relic visit

DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) has prepared security measures for the visit of the incorrupt heart relic of Saint Pio of Pietrelcina on October 14 to 18.

DCPO spokesperson Police Senior Inspector Ma. Teresita Gaspan said Wednesday, October 10, during the AFP-PNP press conference at the Royal Mandaya Hotel that they are always preparing beyond the security standard.

"We are always prepared naman more than standard security plan for that kada naay activities gina himo diri sa atong siyudad (every time there is an event in the city)," Gaspan said.

Gaspan explained that there will be three layers of security system. The inner layer of security coverage will be for the venue and to the participants or devotees while the middle layer will be for the traffic management and the outer layer will be conducting random checkpoints along highways.

She also said that an inspection of bags will be conducted in the inner layer. Bladed weapons are strictly prohibited in the venue. (RJC)
