DAVAO City Vice Mayor Bernard Al-ag said that the president and auditor positions of the Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) are vacant.
"This is a very unique situation sa Liga ng mga Barangay," Al-ag said during the Pulong-pulong ni Pulong (PPP) at the City Council Tuesday, August 07, 2018, adding that it is the first time that no one ran for the position so procedures on the matter are still being discussed.
"We wrote a letter to DILG yesterday and we coordinated with them on how to proceed with the City Council representation of the Liga ng mga Barangay. We asked for their guidance," he said.
He also said that they are considering the law of succession to resolve the matter but they will have to wait for the decision of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).
"We are in close coordination with DILG and the National League of Barangay Captains in order to resolve this matter. My target is next week, mayroon nang nakaupo na representative from them [ABC]," he added.
Captain Edgar Ibuyan, Sr. was elected as vice president. The ABC board members were also elected while the treasurer and secretary positions were appointed.
Ibuyan, in an interview with PTV News Mindanao right after ABC election, said he is willing to take over the president's position once DILG decides for him to do so. Al-ag said that they are expecting a call from DILG today.
