

A 52-YEAR-OLD man was discovered dead along the riverbank in Purok 7, Feria Street, Barangay Calinan Poblacion, Davao City, on the morning of March 7, 2025.
According to the police report, a concerned citizen reported the discovery of a body near the bridge in Purok 7, Feria Street, Barangay Calinan Poblacion, at around 7 p.m. on March 7.
In response, duty investigators aboard Mobile Patrol 2639 were immediately dispatched to verify the report and take necessary action.
The victim was later identified as Edgardo Araya Antoc, 52, married, unemployed, and a resident of Purok 7, Roman Diaz Extension, Barangay Calinan Poblacion.
According to his niece, Antoc attended a neighbor's wedding celebration on March 6, 2025, at Purok 7, Feria Street. He reportedly had a few drinks at the event and left around 8 p.m., taking a route along the dike near the river on his way home.
Authorities suspect that he may have slipped, hit his head on the concrete, and fallen into the river.
At around 5:30 a.m. on March 7, residents discovered his lifeless body in the river and immediately alerted neighbors and the Calinan Police Station. Responders from Barangay Calinan Poblacion arrived shortly after and retrieved the body.
A police inspection of the scene found no signs of foul play. The victim's body was later brought to a nearby funeral home. JPC
