THE Don Manuel H. Gutierrez Sr. Elementary School in Matina, Davao City, held a Musical MASSAcara Day, a field mass demonstration, on November 20, 2024, as part of this year's Reading Month Celebration.
The musical MASSAcara Day was a showcase of performances combining literature, music, and fun to foster learning and creativity and promote engagement and unity.
Each grade level portrayed different characters through masks and music, with Kinder performing Baby Sharks, Grade 1 portraying Minnie and Mickey Mouse, Grade 2 as Minions, Grade 3 as Barbies and Kens, Grade 4 as Jungle Animals, Grade 5 as Dalmatian Dogs, and Grade 6 as Pirates.
The event kicked off with an opening salvo of Balintataw Dance Troupe with their troll-inspired dance choreographed by Maria Lourdes M. Calizo, a Grade 3 teacher.
Teacher Emaluz B. Saniel, officer-in-charge, said in her opening message that Musical MASSAcara is a presentation of fun, music, dance, and creativity and it would not be successful without the support of their school principal, Alan G. Huevos, the teachers, and of course, the parents of the students.
Meanwhile, in her closing remarks, District Reading Coordinator Janice D. Montalvo encouraged everyone to continue supporting and inspiring students as they grow and develop, both inside and outside the classroom.
"May today's experience remind us of the joy of learning, creativity, and unity," Montalvo said, expressing her gratitude to everyone who has made the event a success.
