RESIDENTS of Purok 12, Barangay Bato, Toril, Davao City were alarmed after discovering the 17-year-old girl, who had been reported missing since Monday, July 14, 2025.

According to information from a Barangay Health Worker (BHW), the girl was found naked, weak, and unable to speak in the grassy portion along the roadside. She was believed to be in a state of trauma at the time she was rescued.

The BHW worker said the victim was reportedly on her way home from school but never made it. Based on gathered information, she was seen boarding a closed-cab vehicle, but the identity of the driver and how she ended up in that location remain unknown.

The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) confirmed that alias Nhik, a resident of Rasay Street, Toril, is indeed the girl who was reported missing.

According to DCPO spokesperson Police Captain Hazel Tuazon, the investigation is still ongoing, and the victim has yet to give a full account of what happened to her.

Tuazon also said the victim will undergo a medical examination at the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC).

Due to the incident, police dismissed circulating information on social media suggesting a kidnapping case. Tuazon clarified that it cannot be classified as kidnapping yet due to a lack of evidence or clear information from the victim.

DCPO is urging the public not to jump to conclusions while the investigation is still underway. Tuazon emphasized the need to give authorities time to determine the real story and prevent unnecessary fear among the public. JPC
