THE Davao City Police Office (DCPO) has strengthened its emergency and rescue response capabilities with the acquisition of new vehicles and rescue boats.
DCPO spokesperson Captain Hazel Tuazon confirmed that the City Government turned over the new equipment on Friday, December 27, 2024. The donation includes five Hino six-wheeler troop carriers, four Isuzu 4×4 disaster vehicles, and four fiber-reinforced plastic boats. These resources are intended for use during disasters, calamities, and other emergencies.
Colonel Hansel Marantan, DCPO’s acting city director, underscored the importance of the donation in enhancing their ability to respond effectively to catastrophic events such as floods, typhoons, and earthquakes.
“This move shows how serious Davao City is about disaster risk reduction. By investing in the DCPO, the city is ensuring it’s ready for anything. It’s all about creating a safer, more resilient Davao City where everyone can feel secure,” he said, adding that the donation reflects the local government’s commitment to improving the operational preparedness of its agencies.
He also highlighted the collaboration between the police and local government as a model for protecting the community.
In total, the City Government of Davao distributed 38 vehicles to various offices, including the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), the City Engineer’s Office (CEO), the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO), the City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO), the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Task Force Davao, and the DCPO.
The vehicles were procured through the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund (LDRRMF) for 2024, underscoring Davao City’s proactive approach to disaster preparedness and risk management. DEF
