ATTY. Karlo Nograles, who is running for Davao City mayor, warned the Dabawenyos to be wary of fake Facebook accounts bearing his name that send messages to random people asking for their mobile numbers, claiming that he would give them load credits on their mobile phone numbers.
In his official and verified Facebook page, Nograles said that this poser/ posers are only doing this to dupe other people.
"Naay nagpakaaron-ingnon nga ako, mangayo sa inyong mobile number, kunuhay aron tagaan mo og load. Ayaw mo pailad! Usa ra ang tinuod nakong Facebook page—kining verified nga naay blue checkmark (There are individuals who pose as me, asking for your mobile phone number, claiming that they will give you load. Don't be duped! I only have one Facebook account - this verified with blue checkmark)," Nograles stated.
He advised those who will receive the same message or any other messages promising assistance or load credits using an unverified Facebook account with his name and photo or logo not to give their details or phone numbers but instead report it immediately to Meta for appropriate action.
Nograles, however, did not give any insinuations as to who and what were the motives behind this ploy.
Marcos urged the public on his vlog on Sunday, March 2, to be mindful, particularly of information they see online.
“Kakambal ng kampanya ay intriga at batuhang putik na tinatawag na fake news. Kaliwa’t kanan na rin yan kaya dapat maingat tayong mga mamamayan. Ang sabi nga natin ang bagong Pilipino marurunong kumilatis sa tama at maling impormasyon. Kaya ngayon laganap na naman ang fake news at disinformation, dapat extra ingat sa mga nababasa natin online,” he said.
