THE Davao City Police Office (DCPO) is investigating the discovery of a newborn baby girl found abandoned early Friday morning, January 24, 2025.
The infant was discovered alive and alone behind a house in Purok African Daisy-A, Baguio Proper, Davao City.
A concerned citizen alerted authorities after finding the baby in a vulnerable state. Baguio Police Station (PS11) responded to the scene and confirmed the discovery.
Reports said Barangay Kagawad Karen Cavite Mendez was the first to spot the baby, left near the back of her residence. She expressed concern over the incident and emphasized the need to find the person responsible.
Authorities brought the baby to Isaac Robillo Hospital in Calinan, Davao City, where she is now under medical observation.
Authorities are intensifying their search for the mother. The police have yet to release further details but are urging the public to provide any information that could help identify the mother. DEF
