DAVAO Light and Power Co., Inc. (Davao Light) has announced scheduled power interruptions on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, for customers in northern Davao City to facilitate line upgrades along the Mahayag-Bunawan corridor.
A 30-minute transfer of electrical loads will occur between 12 a.m. and 1 a.m., temporarily redirecting power to a nearby substation. The original system will be restored between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m., requiring another 30-minute adjustment.
The affected areas include those served by the Don Ramon Substation along Maharlika Highway and parts of Barangay Bunawan, including Holy Cross Bunawan and St. James Parish.
Additionally, a separate eight-hour power interruption will take place from 12 a.m. to 8 a.m., affecting areas along Bunawan-Maharlika Highway, from Palawan Pawnshop and Central Convenience to Mahayag Proper, as well as Tagorot Licanan, Bosque, Brgy. San Isidro Bunawan, and Piatos Bunawan.
In a separate announcement, Davao Light revealed a reduction in the overall residential electricity rate by P0.2164 per kilowatt-hour (kWh). The new rate of P8.9894 per kWh, down from P9.2058 in December 2024, will apply to bills from January 11 to February 10, 2025.
Fermin Edillion, head of Davao Light’s Reputation Enhancement Department, attributed the decrease to lower market prices, especially from the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM).
