THE Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) Project Support Office in Mindanao recently announced the launch of several sub-projects under the PRDP Scale-Up initiative, marking a significant development in 2025.
Joseph Rico, head of Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning for the PRDP in Mindanao, shared that 21 out of the 136 national projects are already underway in Mindanao, with an estimated cost of P2.2 billion.
He highlighted that Mindanao has the highest number of initiated sub-projects in the entire PRDP.
"Ang Region 11, naa nay total nga 12 ka sub-projects karon. Ang 9 ka proyekto niini naa sa pre-approval stage mokantidad ni sya'g around P1.5 billion and naa na siva'y duha ka projects karon nga nad na sa, ongoing na ang iyahang procurement stage, and ang isa niini kay ongoing na jud mismo (Region 11 currently has 12 sub-projects. Nine of these are in the pre-approval stage, totaling around P1.5 billion. Two projects are in the procurement stage, and one is already ongoing)," Rico said during a recent interview.
Additionally, five projects have received No Objection Letters, amounting to P333 million in funding. Another 98 projects worth P20 billion are in the pre-approval stage, undergoing validation processes.
These efforts signify a major step toward enhancing agricultural and rural development in Mindanao.
The PRDP, led by the Department of Agriculture (DA), is focused on improving infrastructure, agricultural value chains, and farm productivity in rural communities.
The Mindanao Project Support Office oversees the coordination and management of these projects to ensure sustainable development. DEF
