Runners will take to the streets of Tagum City on Sept. 26 for the inaugural Tagum Tourism Sunset Run, a community race designed to promote fitness while showcasing the city's tourism attractions.
The race will start at 5 p.m. at the City Hall grounds in JV Ayala, Apokon. Participants can choose between the 5K and 10K categories, with registration fees set at ₱500 and ₱800, respectively.
Organizers have extended registration until 5 p.m. Sept. 21 to give more runners time to join the event.
Each registered participant will receive a race singlet, bib, wristband, bandana, loot bag, and finisher's medal. Singlet sizes range from small to 3XL, subject to availability.
The race also offers cash prizes. Winners in the 5K category will receive ₱3,000, ₱2,000, and ₱1,000 for first, second, and third place, respectively. The 10K winners will receive ₱6,000, ₱4,000, and ₱2,000.
Organizers will also recognize the oldest and youngest runners and the biggest delegation.
Participants can register online by scanning the QR code on the event poster or accessing the registration form. They must choose their race category and singlet size, pay through GCash, GoTyme, bank transfer, or MariBank, and upload a screenshot of their payment for verification.
Those who prefer to register in person can visit the City of Tagum Cultural Center on Rizal Street from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. They can look for George Ochigue or Mark Delima.
Organizers said the route map will be released a week before race day. Singlet claiming will also begin a week before the event, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The event invites runners to experience Tagum at sunset while bringing together residents and visitors through a shared run. MLSA
