BRYAN Quiamco of Iligan City and April Rose Diaz of General Santos City clinched the 42K titles of the 7-Eleven Run 2019 Davao leg held in an out-and-back course from SM City Davao on Sunday, February 3.
Quiamco, 32, clocked a total of two hours and 39.43 seconds in men's 42K, racing past Richeel Languido (2:43:08) and Elmer Bartolo (2:43:21) in the race held simultaneously in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
Quiamco, in interview with VoxPop Davao, "Sobrang saya ko kasi hindi ko in-expect na ma-beat ko ang running time ko ngayon kasi mahirap mag adjust sa training kasi hindi mabuti ang pakiramdam ko ngayon."
He has been running for quite sometime and raced in the 7-Eleven last year.
"Maganda ang natakbuhan namin, maayos at masaya," he added.
Diaz, for her part, timed 3:31:43 to outclass Esterlita Organiza (3:42:10) and Noime Fernandez (4:08:35) to capture the women's crown.
In 32K, Joerge Andrade (1:59:10) bested Arnie Macañeras (2:06:26) and Bobby Tadlas (2:06:47) for the men's title while Janice Nerza (2:35:21) prevailed over Lalaine Patricio (2:47:40) and Emely Avergonzado (2:54:43) in the distaff side.
The 21K men's and women's titles went to Jerald Zabala (1:14:32) and Christine Hallasgo (1:27:47), respectively.
Zabala, 30, of Cagayan de Oro City, said he's thankful to have qualified to compete abroad. "Nagpapasalamat talaga ako na nakuha ako sa qualifiers para makatakbo sa labas ng bansa. Hindi ko po alam, sinabihan lang ako," he said, adding that he will try the 42K next year.
The other division champions: 16K - Ramil Neri (men's), Mary Anne Cris Perez (women); 10K Buddy Race - Joel Ortega and Lemuel Suela (all male); Johanna Talictic and Roxanne Joy Panaguiton (all female); Mary Joy Dahera and Wilmar Hallasgo (mixed); 10K - Fritz Clarence Lantaco (men's), Lourence Lei Salazar (women's); 5K Buddy Race - Julius Castronuevo and Jan Bolinguit (all male); Shara Diaz and Langie Mae Meder (all female); Sandara Kaye Carbon and Emmalyn Taypin (mixed); 5K- Mark Anthony Ruto (male), Andrea de Guia (female); and 3K - Raymond Antonio (male) and Camila Tubiano (female).MLSA/LHC
Some 6,000 attendees were present this year for Davao leg from 4,000 last year.
