THE City Government of Davao and the Department of Education (DepEd) in Davao Region pledged their support to the Davao City's first-ever hosting of the National Private School Athletic Association (Prisaa) initially set in April 2019.

Prisaa executive director Joaquin Sarabia, during the Davao Sportswriter Association (DSA) held on Thursday, August 02, 2018 at The Annex of SM City Davao, said preparations have started following the overview and statement of support meeting attended by Sports Development Division (SDD-CMO) office-in-charge Mikey Aportadera and Deped 11 regional director lawyer Albert Escobarte, among other guests, last July 25 at The Royal Mandaya Hotel.

"The mayor (Sara Duterte-Carpio) expressed her support and sabi niya i-sulat lang namin kung ano mga kailangan namin through Dir Mikey," Sarabia said.

Commission of Higher Education (Ched) also assured its support for the hosting of event.

Sarabia, however, shared that they already identified potential playing venues including the University of Mindanao (UM) and its world-class facilities.

He also cited that universities in Davao City that are members of the Prisaa also have commendable venues.

Aportadera, in a recent interview, said the ongoing construction of the Davao City-UP Sports Complex Olympic standard swimming pool is expected to be finished in December this year to accommodate the hosting of the 2019 Davao Regional Athletic Association (Davraa), 2019 Palarong Pambansa and the National Prisaa as well.

Escobarte, for his part, promised to make some of the public schools available for billeting areas.

The hosting of the National Prisaa will either be held before or after the 2019 Palarong Pambansa.

The board members will have another meeting on September 14 to finalize the program.
