REYNALDO "Ryan" Cordero Jr. and Roeland "Roy" Briones shared the limelight in the kali tournament of the Mandirigmang Kaliradman's 20th Anniversary Celebration held last Saturday, November 3, at the Ayala Abreeza Mall.
Cordero of Mandirigmang Kaliradman Headquarters stamped his class to be declared as the 2nd Battle of the Champion winner in the quinquennial championships after overcoming his teammate Don Casiano in the finals.
"Overwhelmed ko kay medyo lahi na level ang battle of the champions. Kumbaga nasala na tanan ang mga naga-compete diha. Maayong venue pud siya to test kung asa ang skills na naabot after how many years of training," the New Jersey-based stick fighter who convened the first Mandirigmang Kaliradman chapter in the United States of America (USA).
The 39-year-old Cordero said he never underestimated his opponents as he presumed that each of them came in prepared.
Cordero's win came on the heels of beating Seymore Gerbolingo in the semifinals after outclassing Michael Hanz Esquivel in the eliminations.
Briones of Mandirigmang Kaliradman Boulevard, on the other hand, clinched the 18th Emerald Championships title after defeating Junno Hiramis of Mandirigmang Kaliradman Bagani in the titular clash.
