PUBLIC high school teams will take the centerstage when the Escandor Cup 2018 Inter-Public High School under 15 basketball tournament will open on August 6 at the Davao City Recreation Center formerly Almendras Gym.
This was bared by Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) executive program officer Ronel Leuterio during the coaches meeting held Friday evening at the Royal Mandaya Hotel Kamayo Lounge.
The league will feature 14 public national high schools, namely, Pablo Lorenzo, Bernardo Carpio, Cabantian, Daniel R. Aguinaldo, Crossing Bayabas, Jesus Soriano, Duterte, F. Bustamante, Dr. Santiago Dacudao, Nograles, Sta Ana, Davao City, F. Bangoy, and Maa.
This free-registration cagefest is also part of the continuous program of SBP regional director and presidential adviser for sports, Glenn Escandor, in opening opportunities for public school athletes to hone their skills that could help them earn scholarships.
"This is also for the grassroots development and most likely giving primary importance sa public high school," Leuterio said, adding that jerseys will be provided courtesy of Escandor.
This is Escandor Cup's second year of holding public high school tournaments. They also hold free coaches clinic for the public high school coaches.
