THE King's Sword Martial Arts (KSMA) scored a grand slam after winning its third overall championship in the recently-concluded 3rd Mindanao Open Wushu Sanda Championships held at the Christian Colleges of Southeast Asia (CCSA) Gymnasium in Maa, Davao City.
KSMA collected a total of 10 gold medals, 12 silvers and four bronzes.
Ryne Luciano, Geoff Bustamante, Julio Enrico Remonde, John Adrian Rivera, Johanna Barbero, Kate Beekhuizen, Jahaziel Care Barbero, Hannah Michelle Eligio, Sandi Beekhuizen and Brandon Lascuna clinched a gold each.
VJ Andrei Pachoro, Neil Ivan Udarbe, Vince Dominguiano, Bryan Paolo Rimondo, Prince Jonas Orocio, Liz Ivy Udarbe, Shaira Ann Secuya, Sandi Beekhuizen, Princess Donna Orocio, John Cris Bacalso, Krizelle Bernardino and Mark John Montes copped silvers while Rudy Serna, Mar Juridico, Vanessa May Villanueva and Christian Dave Ramal salvaged bronzes.
KSMA Davao was coached by former wushu Philippine Team member Sharmaine Florece, Raffy Barrete and Eding Rivera.
Cenojas Mixed Martial Arts (CMMA) Davao, meanwhile, placed second with three golds and two silvers followed by Bansalan Wushu Team (2-2-0) third, King's Sword General Santos City (2-1-4) fourth, Tagum Wushu (2-0-0) fifth, CFC Toril Wushu Team (1-0-1) and Dujali National High School(1-0-1) tied at sixth, CFC King's Sword Wushu (0-3-2) seventh, Agusan Wushu Team (0-1-0) eighth and Shalom Warriors Davao (0-0-3) ninth.
Eddy Tantenko, Wushu Federation of the Philippines (WFP) vice president, WFP national coach Lei Zhing and Roderic Gambong of Department of Education Region 11 graced the opening program.
