AFTER earning the Women Fide Master (WFM) title from the just-concluded 19th Asean+ Age Group Chess Championships (AAGCC), Dabawenya Ella Grace Moulic of De La Salle University aims to defend her title in the new University Athletic Association of the Philippines (Uaap) season starting September.
Moulic bared this during the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum held Thursday, June 28, at The Annex of SM City Davao.
The 19-year-old Dabawenya, who is the daughter of International Arbiter (IA) Alfred Moulic, said, "This will be my last sa Uaap kaya gusto ko pong manalo."
Moulic formed part of the 2015 and 2017 title victories of the DLSU Green Archers varsity chess team.
She recently won a team gold medal for the Philippines and an individual silver at the AAGCC held at The Royal Mandaya Hotel in girls 20 division.
Her silver earned her WFM title and a Women International Master (WIM) norm.
"I need two more norms para maging WIM ako pero kailangan ko pa pong sumali sa mga international competitions na may norms at stake kaya naghahanap din po ako ng sponsor na tutulong sa akin," Moulic said.
Moulic also thanked DLSU coach Randy Segarra for preparing her for the AAGCC and the people who supported her.
"Malaki po yung pasasalamat ko sa coach ko kasi po nag silver ako kahit na madaming WFM at WFM sa division ko," Moulic said.
